Overcome Procrastination when task is tough

Procrastination is habit it is not personality trait.

With efforts we can make or break habit.

In this video I am sharing about how I overcome my habit of procrastination when task is tough.

And what strategies we can use to over come delay in tough task.

Disadvantages

Suppose you are working in organization. Boss comes and asked you to do a task which you hate. Or you think it is tough. He did not gives you proper dead line but definitely he has. He already knows you already have a lot of tasks.

When you start task you feel it is bored and tough. You started to delay it.

Your mind starts to give you various reasons. like I have still time. its little tough. I will do tomorrow or I will complete it, over the week end. But when you start working on week end. There is family problems started to appear. Deadline reach it creates pressure on you and result in stress and anxiety. Boss called and when he knows you still need more time. He thinks you are not capable of doing this task. Or you are doing miss communication and as result his trust lost.

Certainly this will result in delay in promotion or salary increase.

When we delay, Things will be pill up. it creates stress and anxiety. Missing dead lines will effect our performance.

here are some tips which I used to implement in my life to over come the habit of Procrastination.

Solution.

Monitor self talk. You know in our life the person we most of time we talk. Yes we talk with ourselves. monitor it. you will similar voice pattern starts to appear in mind “task is a boring”. I will do it tomorrow. More important task are still pending. We can do these task first.

Replace your inner talk with some positive words. I can do that. Currently this is the only important task I need to complete. This task is on high priority. I can do that.

Remind yourself that in past you already completed many tough tasks. This task is nothing as compare to these. This positive self talk help you to start working and slowly slowly tempo will created and you will able to finish the task.

Focus on value. Most of time, When we feel task is tough. Focus on its value. When we are doing some something. We are also producing something else during this process. That is value it give to you. For example couple of months back. A task is assign to me a lot of work in excel. I force fully completed that task. As result I learned Microsoft excel and a lot excel formula. Couple of years back. A task assignment is given to me about documentation. I hate documentation at that time. But when I completed that task My document skill enhanced and I am able to write blog post.

Every task has some hidden learning. That is the value it teaches us. Consider every task has given you something. Focus on that.

Focus with 10 minute rule.

I love 10 minute rule. It tricks our mind to stay focus. When task is tough and mind reminds to do something else. Just think I have to work only for ten minute. the I get rid of this task We force ourselves to focus just for 10 minutes and then I will kick out this task. will do something else. But after 10 minutes completed, just focus only for 10 minutes more. Most of the time starting of any task is tough and over come that resistance. we come in flow.

At that moment, if you still facing of task is tough or boring, Just remind your self, why you start the task. Why you left task in middle of something or half cook.

If still this problem happens. Remind yourself, why you started task. There is no way left task in middle or half cook.

Hello friends, you can understand how to deal with procrastination when task is tough and boring. Procrastination is habit not personality flaw. We have to monitor our self talk and replace the negative talk with positive talk one. We can focus on value or learning we get while completing these tasks. And we can trick our mind that we can do it just for 10 minutes and repeat this 10 minute cycle until task reaches finish point.
