The Power of Choosing a Few Things

I want to do many things in life.

I want to become fluent in AI tools. I want to learn Python so I can build my own AI agents. I want to improve my communication skills. I want to read books and study material that help me grow. I want to learn sales and self-development so I can become a better pre-sales engineer. I want to write every day to become a stronger writer. I want to create YouTube videos.

The truth is, I can do many things—but I cannot do everything.

Time is limited.

As I enter what may be my final working decade, I feel the weight of that reality more than ever. Every new interest competes for the same finite hours.

This is where Stoic philosophy offers an important reminder: focus on what matters and what is within your control.

We cannot control how much time we have, but we can control where we direct our attention.

As Seneca wrote:

“It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste much of it.”

He also warned:

“To be everywhere is to be nowhere.”

Even though I understand the shortness of time and the importance of setting priorities, my mind still wants to do everything at once.

This is where Buddhist philosophy comes to mind.

Much of our suffering comes from attachment—including attachment to the idea that we must do everything, learn everything, and become everything.

Letting go of that attachment creates space for clarity.

The power of focusing on a few meaningful actions is also reflected in Islamic teachings. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are small.”

The lesson is simple: consistency matters more than intensity.

I do not need to chase every opportunity or master every skill.

Instead, I need to detach myself from outcomes, choose a few priorities, and invest my limited time in them consistently.

Most importantly, I should focus on the skills that align with my profession and long-term purpose. When my learning supports my work, each effort strengthens the others.

Less scattered effort. More meaningful progress.

The goal is not to do everything.

The goal is to do the right things—well.

Feeling Lost in the Age of AI? Here’s What I’m Learning.

Here’s a much-improved and clearer version of your post that keeps your original thoughts but presents them in a more polished and impactful way:

Feeling Lost in the Age of AI? Here’s What I’m Learning.

I’ll be honest — I feel lost too. It seems like AI is coming to eat our jobs, and the future feels uncertain.

But here’s a thought that hit me hard:
“The way out of uncertainty isn’t certainty — it’s clarity.”

We often seek guarantees, but life doesn’t offer them. And that’s the beauty of it — uncertainty keeps us evolving.

So what’s the solution?
Clarity and preparation. Clarity about what we want to do next. Preparation to adapt and learn new skills.

Generative AI feels like a threat right now — and yes, it’s changing everything fast. But that’s also an opportunity.

Think about it:
Over the past 25 years, software development has gone through massive growth.
In Pakistan, we saw significant recognition in tech around 1999 and again in 2020. Now, we’re entering the next wave — and this time, AI is at the center.

Generative AI and Agentic AI are changing the game. So what should we do?

We need clarity.

  • Understand what work truly matters to you.
  • Learn what tools can amplify your skills.
  • Master those tools.
  • And most importantly — don’t be afraid to start over.

It’s time to get out of the rut and gear up.

Let’s stop fearing the change and start riding the wave.

Book Summary for 4 Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

Hey everyone, welcome back to our channel! Today, we’re diving into a transformative topic: how to navigate life as a sensitive person by applying the wisdom of The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your emotions or the opinions of others, stick around. This video might just change your perspective!

Understanding Beliefs

As children, we absorb beliefs based on our experiences, the challenges we face, and how we interpret situations. These beliefs shape our view of the world and ourselves. But here’s the catch: many of these beliefs are based on agreements we make with ourselves—rules about what we should or shouldn’t do.

As we grow, we often judge others through the lens of these agreements, reinforcing our own beliefs about what’s right or wrong. This can lead to a rigid belief system that’s hard to break. And remember, if hell is a state of mind, we can find ourselves living in it when we endlessly punish ourselves for past actions.

The Impact of Negative Agreements

We face daily challenges, and if our internal agreements are negative, they can drain our energy and well-being. But here’s the good news: we can build new agreements that empower us and lead to personal growth. Let’s explore the Four Agreements that can help us transform our lives.

Agreement 1 – Be Impeccable With Your Word

The first agreement is to be impeccable with your word. Our words hold incredible power—not just over others, but over ourselves. The Latin root of “impeccable” means “not sinful,” so let’s strive to use our words positively.

Many of us engage in negative self-talk, which stops us from taking action. Instead, replace those thoughts with uplifting affirmations. Remember, our words can either build someone up or tear them down. Choose to spread positivity and let your words shine!

Agreement 2 – Don’t Take Anything Personally

The second agreement is don’t take anything personally. It’s easy to let others’ words affect our mood. When we feel criticized, we often react defensively, creating conflict.

But here’s a crucial insight: what others say is a reflection of their reality, not ours. By not taking things personally—whether praise or criticism—we free ourselves from unnecessary emotional turmoil. Your self-worth should come from within, not from external validation.

Agreement 3 – Don’t Make Assumptions

The third agreement is don’t make assumptions. Assumptions can lead us to misunderstand situations and people. Instead of jumping to conclusions, ask questions to gain clarity.

This practice not only prevents unnecessary conflict but also helps you understand your true desires. Remember, communication is key to breaking down barriers!

Agreement 4 – Always Do Your Best

Finally, the fourth agreement is always do your best. This doesn’t mean striving for perfection; it’s about putting in your best effort in each moment. When we detach from the outcome and focus on the process, we alleviate pressure and allow ourselves to grow.

Life is about progress, not perfection. Embrace where you are now, and do what you can with what you have.

Implementing the Agreements

To implement these agreements and break free from old beliefs, start with awareness. Recognize your self-limiting beliefs and the fear that holds you back.

Transformation requires a willingness to change and the courage to face discomfort. Intent is essential—approach this journey with pure, unconditional love for yourself.

By applying these Four Agreements, you can reshape your reality, especially as a sensitive person navigating a complex world. Remember, change takes time and practice, so be patient with yourself.

Master Any Skill with The Practicing Mind | Animated Book Summary

Once upon a time, there was a young learner named Alex, who dreamed of becoming a master in programming and music. Full of passion, Alex dove into both worlds, but soon frustration started creeping in. Every day felt like an uphill battle. The more Alex pushed for results, the further the goal seemed to drift away.

One day, while searching for answers, Alex stumbled upon an old mentor named Thomas, who spoke about a powerful secret: the art of mastering the practice itself. “The key,” said Thomas, “is not to focus on the end goal but to embrace the process.” He handed Alex a book called The Practicing Mind.

In the book, Alex discovered simple but life-changing lessons:

  1. Be Present in Practice
Thomas explained that mastering anything—whether coding or playing the piano—starts with learning to focus on the present moment. When Alex coded or practiced scales, the secret was to experience the act itself without worrying about how far there was to go.
  2. Progress is Inevitable with Consistent Effort
“Progress is a natural outcome of practice,” Thomas reminded Alex. “You don’t need to obsess over how fast you’re moving. Just trust that every small step brings growth.” Instead of rushing to complete a project or master a song, Alex started enjoying each session for what it was: an opportunity to improve, even just a little.
  3. Set Goals, but Detach from Them
Thomas encouraged Alex to set clear intentions—like becoming a full-stack developer or composing a song—but warned against clinging to those outcomes. “Goals are just markers,” he said. “They’ll guide you, but they shouldn’t control your happiness. Stay focused on the process, and the results will come naturally.”
  4. Embrace Mistakes and Slow Down
Frustration used to strike Alex hard with every mistake, but the mentor taught that mistakes were part of the growth process. “In fact,” Thomas smiled, “it’s the mistakes that teach you the most.” By slowing down and observing each mistake without judgment, Alex found learning became easier—and more enjoyable.
  5. Discipline Brings Freedom
Finally, Alex learned that true mastery isn’t about random bursts of inspiration but about daily, deliberate practice. The more disciplined Alex became with routines—whether practicing coding or playing scales—the more freedom emerged in creativity and skill.

Months later, Alex noticed something magical. Programming no longer felt overwhelming, and playing music brought peace rather than pressure. The lessons from The Practicing Mind had transformed Alex’s journey into one of calm, deliberate progress.

The secret to success wasn’t in chasing the goal but in finding joy in each small step toward it.

Seth Godi “The Dip” Book summary and Notes

“The Dip” focuses on the concept of perseverance versus strategic quitting. [[Godin]] argues that success often comes from knowing when to stick with something through difficult challenges (the “Dip”) and when to quit and redirect efforts to more rewarding opportunities. The book emphasizes that quitting strategically is not failure but a way to allocate resources effectively to achieve excellence.

Key Concepts

The Dip

  • The Dip is the long, challenging phase between starting something and mastering it. It separates those who succeed from those who fail.
  • Success requires pushing through the Dip, as it creates scarcity and makes success valuable.
  • Exceptional people don’t just survive the Dip; they lean into it, using it as an opportunity to innovate and excel.

Quitting vs. Persevering

  • Winners quit all the time but only quit the “wrong” things at the right time. Strategic quitting frees up resources for more promising pursuits.
  • Reactive or panic-driven quitting, often fueled by fear or discomfort, leads to mediocrity.
  • Coping—continuing with something despite a lack of progress—is a poor alternative to either quitting or excelling.

The Importance of Being the Best

  • Society disproportionately rewards those who are the best in their field. Being number one offers exponential benefits compared to being average.
  • “Best” is subjective and defined by what is most relevant to a specific audience or market.
  • In a world of micromarkets, each niche has its own “best,” making it essential to focus efforts on becoming exceptional in the right market.

When to Quit

  1. Avoid Cul-de-Sacs
A Cul-de-Sac is a dead-end situation where continuous effort yields no significant progress. Quitting these situations allows for focus on better opportunities.
  2. Plan for Challenges
Predict obstacles before starting a project. Know your resources, stamina, and the potential rewards to determine if the effort is worth the Dip.
  3. Recognize Progress
Constantly evaluate whether measurable progress is being made. If not, it may be time to quit and reassess priorities.
  4. Quit Before It’s Too Late
Quitting early, before becoming deeply invested, can save resources for more promising endeavors.

When to Persevere

  • Stick with pursuits where pushing through the Dip offers extraordinary rewards.
  • Focus on fields with steep Dips, as they offer the greatest scarcity and, therefore, value.
  • Perseverance is essential for overcoming the toughest challenges, as most competitors quit during this phase, creating opportunities for those who persist.

Strategies for Success

  • Pick Your Battles: Focus on one or two areas where you can be the best in the world. Spreading yourself thin leads to mediocrity.
  • Lean Into the Dip: Use challenges as opportunities to stand out by innovating or improving.
  • Visualize the Outcome: Keep the long-term goal in mind to stay motivated through difficult times.
  • Avoid Mediocrity: The most common reaction to the Dip is to settle for “average.” This is a trap that prevents greatness.

Key Questions to Ask

  1. Am I panicking?
Avoid making decisions out of fear or panic. Wait until calm to decide whether to quit or persevere.
  2. Who am I trying to influence?
Understand your target audience or stakeholder and tailor your efforts to their needs.
  3. What measurable progress am I making?
If there’s no forward momentum, it may be time to quit and refocus.

Conclusion

“The Dip” challenges the conventional wisdom of “never quit” by showing that quitting strategically is critical for success. It encourages individuals to focus on becoming exceptional in areas that matter most and to have the courage to quit pursuits that lead nowhere. By mastering the art of quitting and persevering, you can achieve extraordinary results and stand out in a competitive world.

Book Summary- 11 Rules for Life

Recently, I read a book by Indian author Chetan Bhagat, best known for inspiring the Bollywood film Three Idiots. The movie is based on one of his novels. His writing is particularly popular with the younger generation, and this book is no exception. It’s written in a straightforward, easy-to-understand style, and the 11 life lessons it presents are highly practical and applicable to anyone, not just in India but worldwide.

In the book, Bhagat discusses the concept of “Aukat,” a Hindi term that refers to one’s status or position in life. He emphasizes that challenging your status quo is no easy task—it requires significant effort. To rise above your current circumstances, you must strive for excellence, unlock your full potential, and become the best version of yourself.

Here are the 11 rules Bhagat shares for reaching your full potential:

  1. Prioritize Fitness
Bhagat initially neglected his health, only to realize later how much it affected his mind, body, and productivity. To become the best version of yourself, fitness must be a priority. This means committing to regular exercise, a healthy diet, and proper sleep. Maintaining discipline and resisting temptations in these areas will also help you grow in other aspects of life.
  2. Master Your Emotions
The author reminds us that those who control their emotions succeed, while those controlled by their emotions are at a disadvantage. Emotional intelligence is key—not only in managing your own feelings but in understanding others’. Without this awareness, we can easily be manipulated. Bhagat suggests analyzing past decisions to see if they were driven by emotion or reason, and then aiming to make future choices based on logic.
  3. Put Yourself First
Echoing motivational speaker Mel Robbins, Bhagat encourages readers to prioritize their own needs and goals. Setting boundaries is essential to avoid overextending yourself in people-pleasing activities. Ultimately, if you don’t look out for yourself, no one else will.
  4. Learn New Languages
Learning a language beyond your mother tongue, especially one like English, can open many doors. Bhagat stresses the importance of English proficiency in modern India, but the principle applies globally. Start with basic vocabulary, consume media in that language, and practice speaking it until it becomes second nature.
  5. Control Dopamine
Dopamine, the chemical associated with pleasure, can either be triggered by unhealthy habits like drinking or smoking or by positive achievements. Bhagat urges readers to focus on the latter—set small, achievable goals and let the satisfaction of accomplishment drive your dopamine release.
  6. Chase Hard Things
Achieving big goals is hard, but that’s what makes the success so rewarding. Bhagat quotes, “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.” Instead of fearing challenges, embrace them—they are what lead to real growth.
  7. Eat the Elephant One Bite at a Time
Big goals can seem overwhelming, but if you break them down into smaller steps, they become manageable. Bhagat uses the analogy of eating an elephant—impossible all at once, but doable one bite at a time. This approach helps you focus on progress and stay motivated.
  8. Be Adaptive
Adaptability is essential for survival, both personally and professionally. Bhagat points to cockroaches as one of the most adaptable creatures on Earth, surviving through constant change. To thrive, we must continually question our beliefs, ideas, and methods, adapting as necessary.
  9. Connect with People
Networking is key to success. Successful people tend to build strong relationships based on mutual benefit. Bhagat encourages readers to improve their social skills, meet new people, and approach relationships with a win-win mindset.
  10. Take Ownership
Blaming circumstances or other people for failures won’t get you anywhere. Bhagat emphasizes the importance of taking full responsibility for your life. Successful people make things happen through accountability, taking ownership of their goals and actions.
  11. Earn, Save, and Invest
Earning money is only the first step to financial independence. Bhagat stresses the importance of saving and, more importantly, investing wisely. Instead of spending on luxury items, focus on growing your wealth through smart investments.

These 11 principles, while aimed at Indian society, are universally relevant. By applying them, you can unlock your potential and become the best version of yourself.

“Silent Impact” Book Summary

Joe Schmit is an award-winning broadcaster, community leader, and popular keynote speaker.

In this book, Joe Schmit teaches us how to be impactful in the lives of fellow beings.

If we have the three qualities of purpose, persistence, and passion, we can create a big impact on others.

Most of the time, we can create an impact on others when we stop trying to impress them.

And it is not necessary that any workplace worker in a higher position be impactful; it is possible that the person who cleans the office is more impactful.

To be impactful, we need to align our actions with our values.

With purpose, we can align our actions with our values. Those who align their values and actions in the workplace demonstrate integrity in their work.

Persistency in work and action creates results. We can become impactful when we have results.

By reaching the office on time, staying fully energized at work, and putting 100 percent effort into work, the positive routine impacts ups and downs in teams.

The work of impactful people reflects their passion. Their passion is making them the heart and soul of their work. They understand their team members and take an interest in their lives. And this passion is their key to a good relationship.

As parents, our integration is always on the line. And if our actions do not align with our actions, it will reflect on our children. We need to be very careful in our daily lives.

Impact resolution.

Instead, make a new-year resolution. That did not remain for long. Commit to a 30-day impact resolution. And remake it every month.

The most important resolution must be to never be petty with yourself. Whatever the situation, no matter how bad things are, someone else will take credit for your work. You need not be petty with yourself. If you pity yourself, others will make you more miserable.

The second resolution is less judgmental. Accept things as they are. Give one compliment each day. Be more patient. speak less and focus more on listening. When we focus more on listening, it helps us learn to be more generous and tolerant.

Being an impact player in life, we need to be committed to principles, even when no one is watching.

It is very interesting that being impactful does not require a lot of resources, a lot of skills, or a lot of strength. It is similar to what Mike McKninley once said.

“USE WHAT YOU GOT TO GET WHAT YOU WANT.”

It means we should understand our strengths and weaknesses and use them to achieve our goals.

Only by achieving our goals can we create a positive influence on others.

We can also create negative influence if we talk about our failures and bad things.

For example, on one of the private TV channels, human resources never hires a candidate who complains about their previous employer.

During the interview, they asked about why you decided to leave your previous company, and in the case of the candidate, they spoke about politics, bad behavior, and not good people working there. Human resources rejected that candidate. The reason for that is that all those organizations have similar problems. He who did not fit or handle will also fail here.

If we want to create an impact, never complain about a bad experience. It reflects that we are unable to handle the situation.

For success, there are no short cuts; you need consistent, persistent hard work.

Hard work and persistent preparation are needed to get to the top, no matter what industry.

There is a famous quote from pop singer Usher: “LUCK FAVORS THE PREPARED.”

Sometimes in life, we stay mediocre and less impactful when we think that we can settle for good while we can do better. We will be impactful. when we continuously think and put effort into staying at the top of the game while we are already at the top of our industry.

It is our responsibility to stay away from negative people. They create an impact on us, which leads to further impact on our family and team members.

If we find ourselves as negative people, then take decisions and make conscious efforts to stay positive or stay quiet. Always think and act as an impactful person; your actions can influence your fellow beings. So always keep this in mind and control your actions and behavior.

Persistence is the key to achievement. If you want to succeed in business, you need to be persistent. the spirit of achieving a big goal that stays persistent and celebrates the small wins. And learn from your mistakes.

If you face adversity, you intentionally do and think differently, so different results appear. The only way to influence your future self is by living intentionally.

Influential people always remember that the journey to achieve something is more important than the award they receive. In life, there are no shortcuts. To achieve something, you pay the price. It’s important to learn how to win and how to lose. You need to build relationships both in school and in your professional life.

Happiness is intention. Control is illusent; you have intention. You have intentional control over your actions and your reactions to things. In the morning, we get up with the intention of staying positive or negative. You cannot control what happens outside the world, but you can still control how you respond to it and how you approach life.

One way to wake up in the morning and stay positive is to think of all the great things in your life. If you don’t have one, make a list, count them in the morning, and think of the great day ahead. This will help you stay motivated and achieve success every day. This list is your security blanket for bad days.

Aruther talks about how you can be influential only when you feel good about yourself; instead, you are a person of influence when everyone around you feels good about themselves in your company.

You can do that by lifting someone’s self-esteem.

Always say something positive about someone. You can always find something good in them. Make it a practice to praise others more and condemn only those who require it.

If you have a positive attitude, you can create a positive impact. Positive attitudes, including smiles, a friendly attitude, and a heart of gratitude, help to make an impact.

Sometimes, we make a motto and then start chasing it, which makes us impactful and successful. For example, Dave Thomes started Wendy’s in November 1969. He stated that his goal was to serve great hamburgers. He made a motto: “Quality is our recipe.” He built his empire around this motto, “which decided to deliver what to the community.

We all have seven days in the week. It’s up to us to make something special.

To stay motivated to achieve your goals and to understand your trigger point, the same pain that makes you decide to quit also helps you stay motivated. Remember the pain, after which you decided to push yourself to be the best?

To be successful in your company, your job, or your personal life, take and implement the three Ps.

Purpose, persistence, and passion.

By implementing these three Ps in our lives, we can make our Mount Rushmore.

Improve yourself and become influential. when people use the word impact or influence. Look where they point, and study those people who are considered influential in that context. What characteristics do they have? Understand and implement those things in your life. Be honest with yourself in those areas that need improvement.

You should make a purposeful commitment to yourself—what you want to achieve and why you want it—and put your commitment and efforts into achieving it.

if you stuck in crossroad in your career consider this

Do you face a challenge when you are stuck in your career path or at a crossroads in your career? When no one is there to answer all your questions.

then this video is for you.

https://youtu.be/5kjVhFXznfQ

I was stuck in the same situation when I felt my software development career was over and I wanted to become a functional consultant.

At that time, I was stuck because I did not stop my old mindset and did not adopt a new mindset.

When you ask your question with scenarios to ask another person, what is your opinion on this? and they are unable to answer your question.

Because they are not in a situation or they cannot see things from their point of view.

And for that reason, you feel stuck, have no guidelines, and have no idea what to do next.

The only thing you can do is step aside and think. You needed a quiet place to start asking questions.

In childhood, I got the right answer to questions. Our condition is that we always know the right answer will lead in the right direction or reach the right conclusion. But actually, that is not right. Answering the right question leads us in the right direction or helps us lead in the right direction.

When it comes to selecting a career, it is crucial to assess the potential benefits and drawbacks of each option. One way to do this is by asking yourself what the upside of a particular career is. By doing so, you can gain a better understanding of the opportunities and rewards that the career path may offer. For example, you may want to consider the potential for career advancement, financial stability, work-life balance, and other factors that are important to you. Taking the time to explore these different aspects can help you make a more informed decision about your future career.

One important aspect to consider when reflecting on your career is to also identify the potential drawbacks or downsides. In doing so, you can gain a more holistic understanding of your chosen profession and the challenges that may arise. Some possible downsides to consider may include job instability, long work hours, limited opportunities for advancement, or high stress levels. Additionally, it is important to acknowledge that what may be a downside for one person may not necessarily be the same for another, as individual experiences and perspectives can vary greatly. By taking the time to reflect on both the positive and negative aspects of your career, you can gain a more well-rounded perspective and make informed decisions about your professional development. Therefore, answering the question, “What is the downside of your career?” can be a valuable exercise in self-reflection and growth.

When making a decision, it is important to consider both the potential benefits and drawbacks. One question to ask oneself is whether they can live with the downside. However, it is also important to take a closer look at the downside and examine any potential ways to mitigate or overcome it. It may also be helpful to weigh the potential positive outcomes against the potential negative outcomes to determine if the decision is truly worth it. So, can you live with the downside? It’s a question worth asking, but it is by no means the only question to consider when making an important decision.

Most of the time, we took emotional decisions. And become rational that we must have to adopt that career.

But certainly, we have to think differently. We have to see things in their actual form. what they are.

Sometimes we live with fanaticism. We have to see and analyze what is actually right for us.

We also decide what skills you require to get this position. Do you already have these skills, or can you acquire them? how much time it takes to acquire these skills. Or these are possible.

To effectively address a problem or situation, it is necessary to take the time to pause and reflect. This involves not only thinking about the obvious questions, but also taking a holistic approach to the situation at hand. By doing so, one can gain a deeper understanding of the issue and identify potential solutions that may not have been apparent at first glance. Therefore, it is important to set aside ample time to contemplate and carefully consider all relevant aspects of the problem, so as to arrive at the best possible outcome.
