Never give up. But where to start? Here is my story of change

In life, we meet failure. Life broke us. It is tougher when others are moving ahead and you stay tired and frustrated. surprised at what’s wrong with you. In real life, there is a lot going on. Much is behind us that is invisible to us. According to the law of attraction, we attract them. That’s true; situations that happen to us are due to our mistakes or poor planning. Here is my story from failure to success:

In my early 40s, I stopped coding. Younger people are much faster and quicker than me. I was working in ERP development. 10 years ago, I accidentally started working in Microsoft ERP. But in the last decade, I started to realize that everything was already developed. There is no need for development in the ERP stack. I said that after 3 years of experience, you automatically get functional (Product ) knowledge.

So after that, I started that journey. I got a job in a foreign Arab country. And For three years, I worked as a support consultant. That implementation is already complete. And I support and implement new modules. I helped different end users with their queries and validated their requirements.

It was successful. Then I switched jobs and went into the consulting field. Initially, I worked hard and got required documents signed, but office politics I was unable to handle. A lot of my efforts were going against me. After 7 months of efforts, I decided to quit, mentally broken, discouraged, and frustrated.

As I was living behind a closed door, My first functional job was the same. Behind the closed door. I feel like a failure.

Finally, my manager asked me if we were going to release you within 6 weeks.

It is really stressful for me. I found that I failed. I failed to prove myself. Here are a few things I want to change:

Accept the failure.

I have to accept my failure, regardless of my extensive knowledge. Unable to meet expectations.

I decided to accept that failure. Accept it with an open heart. I found that until we accept the problem, we will not change it in the future.

Stop weeping:

I was discouraged. I was more focused on what others said. And I shared more about it. I talk a lot about my failures with my wife. My children, my friends, and my colleagues My colleagues listen to me. It feels like some shoulder But actually, they enjoy my failure. While my family starts to think that I am not capable.

I realize that the more we talk about something, the more we attract it.

The second thing I did was stop discussing my failure. Complete silent. If someone comes to me to discuss it, I zip my lips. In Punjabi, we say “Daar waat jaa”. Means, keep holding your tongue tight with your teeth. So stop discussing it with anyone. Except sit alone, weep over it, and learn from it. But stop discussing it with others.

Share your success:

People love to hear success stories. I started sharing these. Initially, when I started sharing my success, People ran from it. But slowly, I got better at sharing my stories. People like to change stories; I start with sharing.

Start building relationships with people.

I am an introvert. How do I understand whether I am an introvert or an extravert? The only answer is that If you have an option for the weekend, either you go party with friends or stay home to watch videos.

But the quality of life depends on the quality of our relationships with others.

So I start making relationships with others.

Focus on one small improvement per day:

Roam is not built in a day. Change occurs slowly. Focus on small changes and track them.

I started focusing on small steps. One step at a time, I start to compare myself to yesterday. Instead of focusing on my destination, I just focus on the next step. And forget about All the details I have. Just focus on my next step.

Use reflection.

I read somewhere that experience does not come with work or events; it comes from reflection on work or events. So I started to reflect. I start following the what, so what, and now what strategies.

In the evening, I start writing down everything that happens. How can I deal with these events and situations?

What can I do better? And the very next day, I started applying these rules.

Always stay positive.

We all become negative. All negative thoughts come into our minds. Bad things happen; our plan did not go well. But the only thing that keeps us going is our positive attitude. Let it go, reorganize energetically, and put in hard work. Remember, whatever the situation, we can control our attitude.

So these are some tips I implemented in my life, and now I am one of the best consultants in the job market.

Just be positive. Have a plan, focus on the next step you have, and continue to make gradual improvements.

Why do we set goals? Whenever we are aiming to construct a building, we require a map. A proper map guides us through the whole journey of construction. Similarly, a guide is required to achieve the goals. We set goals to clear our pathways. When we have set those peculiar goals, we will strive for them. It gives your thoughts a trajectory which helps you fuel your way to success. Goal setting is important because the constant thoughts of aiming to achieve something in life replenishes your soul and leaves behind a sense of serenity and calmness.

Avoid Negative Energies

Avoiding negative energies is essential in controlling your mind. Your surrounding has a great impact on your personality. Negative energy eventually disrupts the calmness and serenity of your personality. It makes you feel agitated. Negative energies are responsible for many adverse symptoms. Specialized or generalized.

So I decided on the area of expertise. I cannot be strong in all areas of ERP. I decided to be specialized.

There are two terms: Generalized and specialized. Everyone has their own way of thinking and makes adjustments in life.

I am more focused on Specialization.

I remember the quote from Bruce Lee.

I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

Many times, big organizations prefer the Generalized expertise of people. These people are very good at communication. Usually, these people work at the start of a project. When a project goes into a critical phase, they outsource things to specialized people.

Generalized people usually work in requirement gathering sessions. Most of the time, their deliverables are documents.

Specialized people deliver the solution, actually. Both have their own importance.

But I like to be specialization. So I decided to work on three areas.

  • Inventory management.
  • Advance warehouse management.
  • Enterprise asset management

Previously, I was thinking about where to start. Now I have an answer.

Decide what you want. Clarity is the starting point. I know planning and execution are also important points.

But a clear decision on what you want is the starting point.

Anyhow, I decided to be specialized. I have a clear vision of the areas in which I need expertise.

Now it’s time to plan and execute.

Let’s go there.

A MAN WITHOUT A SMILING FACE MUST NOT OPEN SHOP

I was listening a podcast, there speaker talks about 10 10 10, 3 10 are people observer in you and last 10 are words. It talks about this quote that is in China, they said, if you cannot smile, you should not open a shop.

It means, The smile is the first thing every one note.

My father once told me that what he observed in other person is the smile.

We all are business man, Some business men are selling their products or open a shop. Others are selling their services. Consultants are coming in second category. We are selling our services.

Services to our company, Colleagues, and to clients.

And best way to sell our services is to smile. Because before selling our services, we ourself to others.

The only way to smile at workplace is live in present moment.

We all have pains, traumas and failures in life. We all have regrets,

We cannot finish all these things. Only way is to accept them. Accept them, so they no more hurt us.

Sometimes, we start to oppose and as result, these pains and suffering hurt us more.

The solution to all these problems, are acceptance. Let them come and go. Then we have to able to face the challenges we have in present moment.

I have to smile. Smile because I am capable to face every challenge that comes across.

Conclusion is smile is first thing, people watch at your face.

For smile, you have to live in present moment. Just focus on now.

Make peace with your past and live in present moment.

The thing is nothing is impossible in this world. How do you feel when you hear this word? You must feel defeated and demotivated after hearing this word. This word is quite heavy and put a lot of pressure on the human mind. It makes us believe that nothing is easier to achieve and we have to go through a lot of hardships to achieve them. Boundaries exist merely in the minds of humans. However, there is no such as an impossible thing to exist in this world.

Why do our goals seem impossible to achieve?

There are many substantial risks due to which we feel that our tasks are unattainable. Some of them are;

You are not sure about your goals. You are not clear about what you exactly want in your life. Whenever a person does not have a clear mindset about his goals he faces difficulties and hardships in achieving goals. Having a clear mindset and a trajectory is important in giving you directions. When you have everything decided at your end it becomes easier for you to organize your thoughts. Organized thoughts lead you towards a successful mindset. Many of us lack self-esteem and self-confidence. Due to a lack of these important traits, we often fail to achieve our goals and tasks. We doubt our skills and we think that we may never be able to achieve our goals. In the end, it does not matter how easier our goals are. the lesser your self-confidence; the more difficult it becomes to achieve them.

The feeling of constant self-doubts that I won’t be able to achieve that particular task leads you to a lack of self-esteem. Which eventually leads you to encounter failures.  Always go for realistic goals. Many times people set unrealistic and tough goals to achieve that is not even practically reachable by human beings. For example, if a person aims at losing 1o kgs weight in 1 week then it is not practically possible to achieve. Go for the goals that are easily achievable by a normal human.

How can we achieve impossible goals?

Create a detailed plan of your goals

Whenever a builder construct before that he makes a map of the whole building. He constructs the structure of the building and then does the practical implementation of constructing the building. Likewise, the implementation of our goals needs a structured organization. We should break the whole procedure of goals into smaller steps.  Whenever we start to head towards our goal we may feel scared and feel it is impossible to achieve but once we get the simplified detailed explanation of how are we supposed to go. Our journey becomes easy.

Consistency is a key to success

Masses have this misconception when they fail to achieve their goals just because of their lackings. They start to blame the nature of the tasks. They will just say things like that it was just impossible to achieve. Leaving everything behind and making themselves demotivated do not let them move forward. Consistency is something that you should withhold to yourself no matter how many times you fall. No matter how many difficulties and hardships you face. When you start to keep up with the consistent work, you start to see the consequences eventually. 

Learn and Adapt

Do you learn from your mistakes? We have this mechanism continuously going on called evolution. We evolve to become a better version of ourselves. And how does the evolution take place? Evolution takes place when we learn from our past mistakes and becomes a better version of ourselves. Never stop learning. Learning is something that always keeps on adding something novel to your knowledge. It lets you cover those loopholes in your personality that you lack mostly in achieving your goals.

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.

All of us love parties and celebrations. How do you often treat yourself? Do you treat yourself whenever you achieve even the smallest of your task? Seeking our own Path.

I have dream of visiting a graveyard, There buried lovers like suhni mahiwal, writers, Sant, shadu, big names. On one place, a saw a person, who is highly successful. I asked him, what is way to be successful. With hands he point towards a cemented stairs, without stair case leading to somewhere up. I don’t believe in dreams, but for sure, it is result of our sub-conscious mind. What I was understand, what my subconscious mind trying to told me, that built your own way. It means, all successful people are those who do things in their own way.

Actually what will happen. The whole day, I was working on document to provide the answers, why these things are just fit.

I was also learning a something new. the area, which I never explored. Some blogs on internet and nothing. Microsoft own notes are not sufficient. I was constantly asking this question, what to do, whom I took guidance. How someone else did this implementation.

In the morning, management will accept my answer because they all non technical. One manager, is already concern doubt on me.

My subconscious mind try to answer my question. That make your own way. study the matter, understand the requirement. And use your own path.

In the sufi way, its called Tariqat. In Arabic Tariqat is the way you do things, Also called Path. In sufisim, Tariqat means, your own way.

What is meaning of your own path.

Stop seeking Guidance : Many times, we are at level, that no body helps us. Its very difficult situation. We reach at certain level.

Some times, we can not ask questions. Nobody at our level or see things from your point of view.

All answers lies in side your. You have clear understanding of situation.

All pain and suffering lies inside me, If I share it, I can be victimized.

Seek knowledge. Learn through observation, how things handled by others, Listen to your environment, People trying to teach you.

study blogs, study tutorials, Listen to others. Read books.

Apply knowledge:

Third is apply knowledge. Without applying nothing found. Experience comes from apply knowledge. And then reflect on it. What benefit we found after apply knowledge. Do things in your own way.

Communicate: Start communicate, start sharing your knowledge, how you apply them, what benefit you found after applying these knowledge. Speak about it.

The difference between, successful and loser is execution. Both have ideas, but successful person, execute the idea.

I am not saying don’t seek guidance. Without guru, teacher, and guider, we did not reach at certain point. But in life, sometimes, we reach a point, where no one guide us. In these situation, stop seeking guidance. Take a lead. Study the topic, stop asking questions, seek knowledge, start communicate, And start apply knowledge by trusting your own guts. No body comes to help you.

My own believe that, when a such a point reach, when you cant ask questions, And unable to take decision. Start listening what people are saying around you. they are discussing their own matters, there own problem. Just start observing people what challenges they are facing and how they handle these. Keep silent, just listen. You will find answer to your problem, without sharing and without asking, Just listen.

Lets write about Hyderabadi fine biscuits

If you are living in Indian city of Hyderabad, than Fine biscuits are not new to you. But being a Pakistani and belongs to small city, these fine biscuits are new to me. And I like them much. I think when I was child, I eat similar to these biscuits. But those were smaller in size. In Lahore we called them bakery biscuits. These biscuits are more expensive than packet biscuits. In Pakistan, it is culture, that when some guest visited our home, we serve them with tea and biscuits. When some very special guest visited our home than, these bakery biscuits serve them.

I like these fine biscuits much. These are spiritual successor of Bakarkhani. I was thinking BakarKani was introduced British, but wikipida said, that it is mugali Bread.

In Pakistan, we used to purchase Bakarkhani from different street oven for bread “Tandoor”.

But this Haiderabadi Fine biscuits are amazing. When I visited the Shalimar Restaurant, in Hara Riyadh. Instead to feel restaurant, it feel more like a stall at some festival. Hara, most of restaurant are stall like. It feel there is carnival and it will finish one day.

When ever I visited hara, I eat these Fine biscuits.

Three things for better communication

I was facing a problem where my management didn’t understand me, but when one of my colleagues said the same thing, they understood perfectly.

To improve my communication skills, I asked the same question to a colleague who gave me three points of advice:

  1. Speak slowly and focus on each word.
  2. Listen with focus and remain silent until the other person finishes speaking.
  3. Reply in short sentences and don’t go into too much detail.

Although there are many ideas out there, the key is to start applying them to see results. And finally, don’t take things too seriously as life is never perfect. Focus on improvements instead.

Relations with others are result of relation with self

One of the biggest challenge, I am facing now is building relationship with others.

I realize that the relationship with others are result of your relationship with yourself.

Whatever is inside, reflect outside.

Now question is how can I make good relationship with myself.

Answer is to understand yourself. Accept your past, hope for future and overcome your fear. It is a starting point for me. For this I start to give answer to following points.

Who am I.

What are my achievements.

What are my failures.

What are my strengths.

What are my weakness.

What motivates me.

What discourage me.

More importantly why I did things in a way. What was my motivation. What was my intension.

I have to understand my weakness and failures. So they will not become hurdle in my success.

Sometimes, the idea of failure stops us to move ahead. I failed that time, this will repeat again. I will fail again. To control this, we  have to accept our failures. Remember, whatever we resist, persist.

So control on it.

Understand weakness, is important, so we work on it. I know, start working on it.

For example, I used to delay things, but when dead line reach near, my start to panic. And as result nothing happen. I start working from day first. So panic situation never happen. I start to control that I have enough time. I have start working on day one. In this way, I overcome the weakness.

My greater weakness is communicate. I understand, what I spoke. I start spoke about my work. I found that I am unable to bear the criticism. So I check my sensitivity. And start understand, it is just other person opinion. Take it or not take it. Just listen. And ignore.

I found that my documentation is not good, due to grammatical mistakes. My sentences are similar to speaking. Not professional writing. So after writing, I start using Quillbot, Grammerly or Notion Ai.

You have to understand, What motivates you. For example, fear of failing. Motivates me. Ability to learn new things, motivates me.

You also notice, what demotivate you. Reason for that, when that situation happens, you can handle the situation. You can take proactive action.

My friends, whatever the failure happens, you have to accept that. Let it go for all past actions.

Start a better relation with yourself. And slowly it will come out and reflect in your relationship.

Give them what they want, not what is require

It is said, that in ancient China, one rich man wanted to get a mouse statue  for decoration. He held a competition, where he send request to all statute makers to participate in competition. When statue makers visited him. He told them his requirements, and held a prize who statue is so beautiful that his cat also confuse and snatch it.

On the competition day, all statute workers visited him, with his work. One young person comes with statue that is not so beautiful. When all statute placed in hall, all statue made fun of him.

But when rich man, visited the hall, he also not like his master piece.  But young man, asked him that in invitation there is requirement, that his cat will confuse with mouse is original or not.

So as per rules, cat have to decided that competition. Rich man laughed at him, and told them it is symbolic. Not actual. For just joke, he brought his cat in hall. When cat saw these mouse, instead to second look on all other mouses, she took the mouse of young person and run away.

Young person laughed and demand his prize. Because his fish was so beautiful that rich man’s cat confused and take it like a real mouse. Actually he made that mouse with fish meat.

Rich man surprised and gave him the prize.

Our life is such a way. Usually as consultant. We know what is best for client. But we have to give them what they want. Yesterday, I made a document, and they did not understand what is major meaning. They just search the exact word, they gave. So objective meanings were lost. Later I start to understand them, how they work. And produce the work as wishes for them.
