I saw this small clip where Indian singer Master Saleem who sung many folk songs and specially expert in singing the songs from Nusrat Fathe Ali Khan.
In that video Master Saleem sung with Rahat Fahey Ali khan. And both did Jugal Bandi. means, they song classical voices like tha thaa, theyaa. And it was amazing.
Master Saleem did not have original anything he did copy and copy better then original. While Rahat Fahtey Ali kahan has many original work and a lot of kinship from Nusrat Faht Ali Khan. I remember some old video on PTV. Where is was sitting beside Nusrate Fathey Ali Khan and just do some supporting work. After the death of Nusrat, He lost everything but he did a lot of efforts he had to put make him up to mark. I still remember on Pakistani singer abbas Rufi. He also excellent copy and generate similar voice of Nusrate Fath ali Khan. At that time, when nusrate Fath died, he is better then Raahat if both sung same song.
But now both have huge name. Rahat is legend and Abbas rufi lost in time.
Only difference is efforts. Efforts for long term goal. Effort beyond when people drop dead, they still continue effort.
In Master saleem and Rahat Faht Ali Khan jugal Bandi, Rahat Faht wins because he put more efforts and has original work. He switched the raag But Master saleem has what only he copied. He continued but beated by Rahat due to orignality and more expertise in classic singing. And he build this expertise by putting more efforts then Master saleem.
There are many stories, where you are nothing, failure but from instance you decide and start working with long term efforts you can still wins. With efforts, with dedication. You can create difference.

Grit is effort for long term goals and put efforts.

This only story of singer, who has heritage of His uncle but was nothing when his uncle died, he put efforts and make his space. Long term efforts. Many who have duplicate copies of Nusrat, the made their own spaces but did not go beyond exceptional.
So it is your time, For example biggest challenge I have communication. I can do work. I can put efforts to resolve problems. But what makes me excellent worker is communication. People beats me due to my this weakness.
I unable to show my work to management. Some times people think it politics. But actually, many people doing efforts to achieve or get same goal. But who wins, that one who has good communication. Who shows his work.

For building grit you need. Goal. vision. What you want to achieve. What you want to change in yourself.
And then long term efforts. there is no short cuts. Efforts long term.
You can beat talent but twice efforts or more efforts then talented person doing.
